Talent exists everywhere, but opportunity does not always reach everyone equally. Many young people in South Florida have the potential to succeed but lack the access and support needed to fully develop their talents.
The Crockett Foundation was created to help talented young people in South Florida gain the opportunities they need to reach their full potential.
Former NFL players Henri and Zack Crockett founded the organization with a simple belief: when someone helps you, pay it forward to the next generation.
Today, that belief continues to guide the foundation’s work with students across Broward County. Through mentorship, education, and leadership development programs, the Crockett Foundation helps young people build confidence, gain exposure to new opportunities, and imagine a stronger future.
Research consistently shows that youth mentorship programs can significantly improve academic performance, confidence, and long-term success for students. According to research highlighted by the U.S. government’s youth development resource hub, strong mentorship relationships help young people develop the skills and support networks needed to succeed.
Where the Mission Began
The Crockett Foundation’s story begins in Pompano Beach, Florida.
Henri and Zack Crockett grew up in the same communities the foundation now supports. Like many young people, they had big dreams but limited resources. The people who helped them along the way made a lasting difference.
Teachers. Coaches. Mentors. Administrators.
These were the people who recognized their potential long before achieving success in professional football.
Mentorship has created opportunities that have transformed their lives. Today, the Crockett Foundation strives to ensure that the next generation of students receives the same support
The foundation’s youth programs concentrate on academics, STEM education, leadership development, and long-term personal growth. Students gain access to mentorship, hands-on learning experiences, and exposure to college and career pathways that expand their vision for the future.
According to the U.S. Department of Education, programs that combine mentorship and academic support have been shown to increase graduation rates and improve long-term educational outcomes for students.
When young people believe in themselves, everything can change.
Why Community Support Matters
Programs like those offered by the Crockett Foundation don’t happen by accident. They exist because the community chooses to invest in its young people.
Supporters, donors, and volunteers make it possible for the foundation to keep helping students each year. Every scholarship awarded, mentorship relationship established, and educational experience provided occurs because people believe in this mission.
Community-based organizations play a vital role in expanding opportunities for students outside the classroom. By offering mentorship, leadership development, and exposure to career pathways, these organizations help fill important gaps in access and opportunity.
One of the most significant ways the community supports this work each year is through the foundation’s main fundraising event.
Sips and Cigars: An Evening That Fuels Opportunity
Sips and Cigars is more than just a social event; it’s a fundraising occasion that supports youth opportunities and enhances community impact.
Each year, supporters, community leaders, and corporate partners come together for an evening of connection, conversation, and purpose. Guests enjoy premium cigars, curated drinks, and a warm atmosphere that highlights the foundation’s work while raising vital funds for its programs.
The event unites individuals committed to supporting the next generation of leaders.
Funds raised during Sips and Cigars support scholarships, mentorship programs, leadership development opportunities, and educational experiences for students served by the Crockett Foundation.
It serves as a strong reminder that real change occurs when communities unite to support young people.
A Mission That Continues to Grow
What started as a small football camp in Pompano Beach has grown into a much larger mission.
Today, the Crockett Foundation continues to expand its impact through youth development programs that promote academic achievement, leadership skills, and personal confidence among students across Broward County.
While the programs keep evolving, the mission stays the same.
Someone once opened a door for us. Now it’s our turn to open doors for others.
